My 5 favorite cozy rituals for an autumn self-care routine

Autumn is the perfect season for all things cozy and comfy and warm. It’s the perfect time of the year to come back to yourself, slow down, and snuggle up for gentle self-care rituals and activities.

Here are my 5 favorite rituals and activities to really welcome and embrace all the coziness and warmth of the autumn season.

1. Start your day with your favorite warm beverages

Although many people use their favorite hot drinks as an occasional treat, I like to start my day with them for breakfast – this is always a great way to get excited first thing in the morning right after I wake up, and helps me start the day with something I really enjoy – especially during these chilly autumn mornings. So yes – begin the morning with a delicious hot cup of tea, coffee, or hot cocoa to start your day feeling warm and cozy. Besides, it’s good to indulge in a bit of simple pleasure and small joy every day.

2.  Go for nature walks

Autumn is the perfect season to go for long, relaxing nature walks and enjoy all the colorful leaves around, and the crisp air. Nature walks are great all year long, of course, especially if you’re looking to reconnect to nature and yourself, or get some physical activity, but they’re even more enjoyable in the autumn when nature is its prettiest.

3. Cook seasonal recipes

I feel like all the best recipes are always the autumnal ones, aren’t they? All these warm, hearty and home-cooked meals and baked goods that you long for all summer. And not to be a cliché, but pumpkin and spices are truly one of those simple pleasures that make daily life so much more enjoyable, and so are maple, apples, and squash. So having fun in the kitchen is the perfect activity to enjoy yourself and relax while fully embracing autumn and its wide variety of delicious, seasonal foods.

4. Layer up

Autumn is the most cozy season, so it’s the perfect time to wrap yourself in your favorite layers: sweaters, scarves, beanies, cardigans, etc…. All the warmest and most cozy things, really. As soon as it’s September, one of the first things I do is bring out all my autumn clothes with eagerness, and then I start counting down the days until the temperature gets chilly enough and I can wrap myself like a human burrito in my favorite sweaters and cardigans without suffocating from the warmth.

5. Relaxing hot baths

Every year I’m excited and impatient for fall to come back after summer, if only because it means I can indulge in long, hot baths again. And autumn is the perfect time to warm up on these chilly nights with a long, hot bath, some essential oil, lots and lots of bubbles, and nice candles.

So this is it, my 5 favorite rituals for a cozy self-care autumn routine. Please do not hesitate to share yours in the comments. What makes you feel warm and cozy during fall?

As always, I hope you have a wonderful day. And that you remember to be kind to yourself. So give yourself a big hug, drink a glass of water, and be kind to yourself. Life is hard, and you deserve to take care of yourself.
